Dress Code: Smart Casual

Dress Code: Smart Casual

This would be our fave type of dress code whereby the simplicity of denim with a blazer makes that comfortable yet elevated statement. As we move into Spring it’s nice to lose the outerwear layer and throw a jacket over a tee or tank with a pair of fresh denims.

A decent pair of denim jeans can be the basis of any outfit so style and comfort are a must depending on your body shape and look. We suggest less fray and rips but a tad distress along hem edges for that “worn favourite” is the way to go.

We have backed several AGOLDE styles this season, the latest being the Low-Slung Baggy in Libertine with it’s on trend wide straight leg with an 80’s vibe mid waist and rigid, faded denim shade. A deeper shade more classic slim leg fit we suggest the Kye Mid Rise Straight Crop in Mirage with a mid-rise cropped ankle length or its sister style in a faded shade the Riley Crop High Rise Straight in Dimension have a clean hem and offer that super classy time-honoured look with any outfit. The denim longer line skirt has made a comeback and a perfect alternative to jeans especially with the warmer weather ahead, the Hilla Longline Skirt in Practice with its split at the back (we love that!) and vintage look denim offers a diverse look when throwing denim in the mix.

We have embraced the move away from the classic jeans cut into the trouser, cargo styles and Mother Denim have reimagined a couple of styles with their high quality, perfect balance of stretch to allow just enough comfort without losing shape. The High Waisted Spinner Prep Skimp in Flashback with slit pockets wide loose leg and slight washed look give any look with blazer or tee a statement or the blast from the past Hustler Roller Sneak in Heirloom and jet-black denim Roller Prep Heel in Pitch. A pocketed cargo, super comfortable Straight Up Rambler Cargo Ankle in Bad Romance gives an edgy on trend look that are slightly cropped with clean edge hem. For those that want that fresh pop of summer blue in the classic Mother Denim stretch comfort don’t look past the Tripper Ankle in Ripe for the Squeeze with high rise and clean ankle length hem.

NEWSFLASH!! Hold onto your hats but for those who love their denims we are expanding the family and opting for a style we think are a winner coming soon by Citizens of Humanity ... we will keep you posted via our socials!

Ok, so to keep with the “smart” side of dress code, a blazer screams sophisticated style and often a timeless piece you’ll never part with and dare we say it ... an investment!

Anine Bing as we’ve often said have nailed a few styles in blazers and continue to up their game with newer colourways and textured fabrics. The Quinn Blazer, a lighter wool in classic black, khaki, or beautiful dove are a perfect trans seasonal weighted jacket or the latest textured boyfriend version in tan herringbone, a smart take on the classic college look. The Madeleine Blazer a move away from on oversized look to more structured cut. Simplistic black and deep sand are a staple or the latest luxury textured fabrics in tan/black tweed or mini houndstooth for those that want a bit more statement and game to mix up printed graphic tees with understated patterns. Viktoria & Woods always nail their styles with quality and the latest Hometown Wool Blazer in Burnt Umber a single breasted 100% wool jacket in the most beautiful dark brown tone can see you through any time of year, just adjust your under layers and outerwear pending the weather! A lighter colour cotton trench, perfect for those “4 seasons in one day” is the Roosevelt Coat in Tan with its timeless cut and flattering pleat at back and waist tie.

Smart Casual will continue to be a universal term when it comes to our most popular dress code so we can say with our hands on our hearts, denim + jackets will never tire and continue to evolve through the seasons.
